FiRa® Plugfests bring the FiRa ecosystem together in a secure, collaborative environment where members test interoperability between their FiRa ultra-wideband (UWB) implementations. These events help member companies verify interoperability, strengthen confidence ahead of certification, and accelerate overall growth and maturity of the FiRa ecosystem.
Visit our Events page for upcoming Plugfests.
What Is a Plugfest?
A Plugfest is a hands-on technical event where FiRa members test their implementations against one another under controlled conditions. Participating members conduct pair-wise interoperability testing, comparing supported features, roles, and functions across Core, Framework, and Profile layers of adopted FiRa Specifications.
Testing outcomes remain strictly confidential between partners, protected by Plugfest NDAs, while any identified specification issues are reported through established FiRa channels for follow-up.
Why Participate?
Plugfests offer FiRa members a valuable opportunity to:
- Verify Interoperability – Verify that your implementation functions seamlessly with other FiRa solutions.
- Gain Early Insights – Identify and resolve potential issues before certification.
- Accelerate Time-to-Market – Use the event to streamline your development and testing cycles.
- Strengthen the Ecosystem – Contribute to the collective confidence in FiRa technology.
Participation and Eligibility
Plugfests are open to all FiRa member companies, regardless of membership level.
Both prototype and final platforms may be used — including development boards, pre-certification units, and production devices.
Plugfests are exclusive to FiRa members. To learn more, visit the Membership Information page for details on joining and participation benefits.
Program Focus
Each Plugfest may include an optional focus area, such as a specific feature set, profile, or performance scenario. Testing priorities are set based on member input and the maturity of FiRa Specifications.
Confidentiality
All Plugfest attendees sign NDAs to ensure test outcomes remain private. Only paired participants receive their testing results, while specification feedback is shared through FiRa’s standard reporting process.
